Thanks, Volunteers!

A group of NAA volunteersWe just couldn't get the job done without our volunteers -- so we found a unique way to say "thanks!" On May 6, they were invited to a special event designed just for them.

The day started with a brunch at the NAA. Then the group took off to Philadelphia's Magic Gardens, a mosaic extravaganza created by artist Isaiah Zagar. His mirror-and-mixed-media murals can also be seen all around the South Street area. The volunteers got a guided tour that took them to areas most visitors don't get to see, and they even created their own artwork, using Zagar's technique of pressing a doily's pattern into clay.

Executive Director Announces Resignation

Terry Foreman, the NAA’s Executive Director, has announced her intention to resign effective June 1, 2012, according to NAA President Jeff Smith. The Board is reviewing applications and conducting interviews.

Terry has been involved with the organization since it was founded in 1993 and has filled a variety of roles – writing grants, creating projects, teaching classes, overseeing special events, and tirelessly promoting the arts in Newark.

She will continue to serve as a volunteer with the NAA and plans to devote additional time to her artwork and mural projects.

We thank her for ongoing dedication to the NAA and wish her the best in her next endeavors.
