And we’ll keep on keepin’ on ...
"Moving On," our first planned exhbiit, has been cancelled
Plans are to reopen sometime in March. "Moving On," our first planned
exhibit, has been cancelled because it's taking longer than anticipated to
get our new space in shape. So we'll start our series of art shows with
"Impressions of Newark," our salute to the city's 250th anniversary. For
details, go to the "Exhibits" page and click on "Exhibit Schedule 2008."
In the meantime, we’ll continue the monthly Art Loop in downtown Newark shops and restaurants, and there’s likely to be an Art To Go project or two.
Our various arts groups will meet in alternate spaces (download the January-February issue of the newsletter and see the “Community Arts Calendar” pages for contact information).
We’re also creating a sculpture for Newark’s 250th anniversary this year. These papier-maché sculptures of a huge 2-5-0, will have each number covered with city memorabilia. They’ll be part of our “Impressions of Newark” show in the spring, appear in various public places, and take a ride on a float in the anniversary parade.
Here’s how you can get involved.
- Help create the artwork. Just send an e-mail to info@newarkartsalliance.org and we’ll keep you posted about work sessions.
- Contribute photocopies (not originals) of your artwork, writings, news clippings, advertisements – anything that says “Newark” to you. Bring or mail them to the NAA.
